Biography
David Sloan Carr Boyd was born about 1850 in Ireland, son of William Carr Boyd (1819–1882) and Charlotte McAvoy (~1827–1871).
His father Dr William Carr Boyd took up an appointment at the Tasmanian University in Hobart Tasmania in about 1853.
David Carr Boyd was for a time the manager of Wealwandangie Station near Springsure in Queensland. Then he took up a position as surveyor in Rockhampton.
David (26) married Elizabeth Worthington Stanhope Ransom (18) (born in 1858 in Dalby, Colony of Queensland; daughter of Henry Worthington Ransom and Hannah (O'Sullivan) Ransom) on October 25, 1877 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.[1]

David died on November 25, 1883 in Brisbane, Colony of Queensland, aged about 32.[3]
| Mr. David Sloane Carr-Boyd, surveyor, son of the late Dr. Carr-Boyd, died suddenly of heart disease this morning. He arrived from Rockhampton on Friday to consult Brisbane doctors.[4] Mr. David Sloane Carr Boyd, son of the late Dr. Carr Boyd, and brother of the well-known "Potjostier," died very suddenly in the Long reach, boarding-house from disease of the heart. He was 34 years of age, and a surveyor in the Rockhampton district. He has left a widow and four young children.[5] CARR-BOYD — On the 25th November, 1883, at Longreach, Brisbane, David Sloane, eldest son of the late W. Carr-Boyd, L.L.D. Aged, 33½ years. Deeply regretted.[6] |
He is buried at Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.[7]
